Therapists for college students near Northeastern University
Hi! I’m a Licensed Mental Health Counselor (LMHC) with 8 years of experience working in various clinical settings with children, adolescents, young adults and adults. I am invested in the power of connection and community, especially for those who have been historically marginalized. Many have been pushed away from connection and community by systems that weren’t built for them. My hope is to empower those whose voices and identities have been stifled, to reclaim space through community, resistance, and activism. My lived experiences as a queer, South Asian, cisgender woman deeply inform my approach to therapy. I believe in holding space for the multiple, intersecting identities and experiences each person carries and honoring the wisdom you already bring into the room. Through a liberation-focused, relational, and trauma-informed approach, I support individuals who are looking to process traumatic experiences, explore gender and sexuality, or navigate their cultural identity and intergenerational trauma. Therapy should be a space where you don’t have to justify who you are and where all aspects of your identity are welcome. This work is hard, and it can be exhausting to be vulnerable. I’m here to walk alongside you and support your process of unlearning, stretching beyond comfort zones, and cultivating new ways of being. I am here to offer curiosity, care, and a space to hold multiple truths. Growth isn’t linear—it’s a daily practice of reflection, connection, and self-compassion. We all deserve spaces that nurture us in this process, and I am honored to co-create that space with you. My integrative approach draws from trauma-informed and relational-cultural modalities, rooted in the understanding that we are shaped by our experiences, culture, ancestors, and the larger social and political systems we inhabit. If you’re looking for a supportive space to explore your identity and experiences, I invite you to reach out. Call or email to schedule a consultation—I look forward to meeting you. *Note: I am currently seeking individuals interested in participating in EMDR sessions as I work towards the completion of EMDR Basic Training. If interested please let me know!
I have immediate availability in my schedule! I love to help my clients gain insight into their thoughts, emotions, and behaviors, build new skills, and use that enhanced self-awareness and skill to make meaningful changes in their lives. I take a strengths-based and collaborative approach that draws from a range of therapeutic modalities and is responsive to your needs and desires. I aim to bring warmth, humor, and authenticity to the therapeutic relationship. I love to work with college students and am a former counselor for the non-profit Bottom Line, where I supported first generation college students through any and all challenges that arose on their journey towards graduation and career readiness. I also enjoy working with people who are anywhere on their journey towards becoming parents or who are searching for greater wellness as parents.

I work at CampusCare Counseling. I am trauma-informed in my approach. This means I work with clients to build trust, taking into consideration personal and socio-cultural factors, with the goal of forming a therapeutic relationship that empowers clients and allows their authentic selves to be in the therapy space. I believe growth, as defined by the client, happens from there. When clinically indicated, I pull from my experience and training with trauma-focused cognitive behavioral therapy, dialectical behavior therapy, and EMDR. Additionally, I use psychodynamic, existential, and feminist perspectives to inform my work.
Life has a way of surprising us — a loss, a betrayal, a diagnosis, or a path that no longer feels right. In these moments, it’s easy to feel unsteady or unsure how to move forward. I specialize in working with college students and young adults who are navigating these turning points and trying to find their footing again. With over 15 years of experience in counseling settings at Harvard and MIT, I offer a warm, supportive space where you can slow down, reflect, and feel understood. My approach is both insight-oriented and practical — helping you make sense of your experiences while building tools for meaningful change. Many of my clients are high-achieving individuals — often children of immigrants, or professionals in higher education and STEM — who appear put-together on the outside while quietly carrying stress, grief, or a sense that something isn’t quite working. If that sounds like you, I can help. Let's get started!
My approach to therapy is collaborative, positive and solution-focused, resilience approach, with a focus on overcoming negative experiences and beliefs through a combination of insight into your issues and practical strategies that will help dealing more effectively with issues in your life. Currently, I am a senior clinical staff at the University Counseling and Mental Health Service. I particularly enjoy working on issues related to social and cultural adjustment, diversity, intersectionality, and inclusion.
I am a staff psychologist at Massachusetts General Hospital and faculty member at Harvard Medical School. I provide individual therapy for adults and have experience working with a wide variety of presenting concerns, including mood disorders, anxiety, and trauma. My goal is to create a warm and genuinely accepting environment in order for you to feel comfortable collaborating with me to tackle your stressors together. I generally utilize a cognitive-behavioral approach (CBT), integrating other evidence-based theoretical orientations as needed to provide personalized treatment based on your needs and preferences. I prioritize using strengths-based, trauma-informed, multiculturally sensitive methodology. Effective therapy begins with a strong therapeutic relationship between the client and the therapist. Please reach out so I can support you on your journey. If I am not the right fit for you, I am happy to give you referrals so you can find the best therapist for you!

My work incorporates Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Internal Family Systems (IFS), Liberation Health Model, and mindfulness-based interventions to help meet clients’ unique and wide-ranging needs. I am a psychologist working at CampusCare Counseling, a group practice serving only college students. I am highly experienced in addressing mental health needs of undergraduate and graduate students. My therapeutic work takes a largely integrative approach including, but not limited to, the use of psychodynamic, cognitive-behavioral, dialectical behavioral, exposure and response prevention, and acceptance and commitment therapeutic interventions. I work through a humanistic and client-centered lens, drawing from many concepts of internal family systems therapy. I believe that at our core, we are all inherently “good,” but our unique life experiences can lead us to adopt beliefs, behaviors, and coping strategies that may be healthy at times, or harmful at others. For this reason, I believe it is essential to explore the relationships and events that shaped distressing thoughts or unwanted behaviors to facilitate meaningful change. I hold unconditional positive regard for my clients, utilizing a trauma-informed approach to help college students gain a deeper understanding of themselves and a genuine appreciation for all the parts that make them who they are. It is my belief that with self-insight and self-love present, transformation, healing, and relief are always within reach.
Therapy serves as an opportunity to be curious – to explore the patterns and narratives we carry, repeat, and, at times, feel bound by. Through gentle curiosity, we create space for healing and give ourselves the opportunity to blossom into more authentic versions of ourselves. My therapeutic approach is grounded in psychodynamic and attachment theories. With compassion and warmth, I listen closely to the unique story of your life, honoring the experiences that have shaped how you relate to yourself and others. Together, we will untangle these experiences and cultivate hope that life can improve in ways that feel deeply meaningful. I offer individual psychotherapy to adults and older adults with a variety of presenting concerns including anxiety, depression, grief, bereavement, trauma, relational difficulties, and identity exploration. Importantly, I strive to remain mindful of the nuanced ways our identities shape our experiences and influence how we move through the world. I have specialized training in geropsychology and am passionate about helping adults navigate the complexities of aging, later-in-life transitions, caregiving, existential concerns, and ageism. My experience also includes working in college counseling centers, memory disorder clinics, community mental health, and with veterans.
I share in community and identity BIPOC and LGBTQ+ individuals, and those navigating trauma, sex/sex work/sexuality, grief, identity, and nontraditional relationships. I understand the layered and often systemic challenges we face, especially in intimate spaces like therapy. My goal is to create a safe and supportive space where you can explore your identity, experiences, and relationships with yourself and the world without judgment. Together, we’ll navigate trauma, honor your complexity, and celebrate the richness of who you are. I am dedicated to providing a collaborative, empathetic, and understanding therapeutic environment. My practice is queer-affirming, trauma-informed, and anti-oppressive, ensuring a holistic approach to mental health care. With lived experience in sex work and non-monogamy, I offer a unique perspective that deeply resonates with those in these communities. I’m dedicated to providing a collaborative, empathetic, and understanding therapeutic space. My practice is authentic, curious, affirming, holistic and collaborative. I draw from psychodynamic and attachment-based approaches, and I adapt flexibly to meet you where you are.

I have been a practicing psychologist, psychoanalyst, and teacher for many years, and I offer psychotherapy tailored to address the unique needs and goals of my individual clients. Many want to work on specific problems relating to anxiety, depression, eating disorders, or childhood trauma. Many are successful people, but find they struggle with one specific area, for example intimate relationships. Some are not sure what, exactly, is wrong, but know that they feel stuck in their lives and are looking for help identifying a path forward. My style is interactive, and I believe that successful psychotherapy depends upon a trusting and respectful relationship between the therapist and client. Psychodynamic understanding is fundamental to my thinking, but I incorporate CBT (Cognitive Behavioral Therapy) and other skill building strategies when helpful. My practice is geared for individuals and couples who are graduate students or staff. For more detail: www.margaretsablove.com. I have developed a specialty in the treatment of eating disorders and collaborate with treatment programs and medical professionals. In addition I offer individual and group clinical supervision for mental health professionals. I have flexible office hours and use video conferencing when in-person meetings are difficult to schedule.
